Why computers won't be taking over the world anytime soon

I wanted to know how far it was from Sheridan, Arkansas to Albert Pike Road in Hot Springs. Easy, right? Just go to maps.yahoo.com and use the "Driving Directions." Of course, I already know how to get there. I've driven it several times before. You just take US 270 from Sheridan to Albert Pike Rd. Simple. I was guessing maybe 40 miles. Nope. 311.8 miles according to yahoo.

Of course, they decide that taking US 270 directly isn't the best way to go. No, they say that you should take US 167 up to Little Rock, then go west on I-40 all the way to Fort Smith, then take I-540 south to US 270 and approach Hot Springs from the west.

But just think. If computers drove our cars for us, it would take about 6 hours to go 40 some odd miles.
